About us
Robin James Opticians first opened in Caversham in 1971. It has always been our commitment to provide the highest quality eyecare to all our patients, backed up with our great selection of the latest spectacle frames and lenses.
We make it our business to spend a lot of time with you, getting to know you and to understand exactly what you need. We maintain close links with the local hospitals, surgeries and schools, and have been an important part of the Caversham community for over four decades.
Optometrists
Julian
After graduating from City University and qualifying as an optometrist, Julian joined the practice in 2000. He is well known in Caversham and the surrounding areas. His expertise and willingness to take time to get to know his patients individually has earned him a strong local following. He has a loyal and long-standing patient base, many of whom have been coming to see him for years.
Outside of work Julian enjoys playing table tennis, listening to music and spending time with his family.
Sandip
After graduating from City University, Sandip qualified as an optometrist in 2006.
She has a wide experience of all aspects of eyecare. She always puts our patients at ease and makes sure everyone is well looked after.
When not working Sandip enjoys spending time with her young children and is a keen member of a CrossFit gym.
Dispensing Opticians
Julie
Julie is a familiar face in Caversham, and has built up her reputation with her calm, approachable manner in helping everyone choose the perfect frame. With many years as a Qualified Dispensing Optician, she also gives excellent professional advice on the latest spectacle lenses.
In her free time Julie plays badminton and enjoys the outdoors.
Sanjukta
Sanjukta is a Qualified Dispensing Optician with 10 years' experience in Optics. She takes great pride in giving outstanding customer service and professional advice to all our patients.
Outside of work Sanjukta is a keen painter of landscapes and still life, and also enjoys reading crime novels.
Emma
Emma is one of our dispensing opticians and has been with us since 2017. She is also our frame buyer and is passionate about bringing to the practice the very best and latest eyewear collections.
Outside of work Emma enjoys spending time with her family, singing in a choir and meeting up with her book club group.
Ella
Ella is the longest serving member of the dispensing team, and though now with us on a part time basis, she still remains an integral part of the practice. She continues to have a strong interest in all the latest eyewear and spectacle lens advancements.
Outside of work Ella’s passion is her amateur dramatics, as well as walking her energetic dog.
Support Staff
Sylvia
Sylvia can be found on reception, helping to make sure that things are running smoothly.
Sylvia is often the person you will hear at the other end of the phone when you call us. She ensures patients have their queries answered efficiently as well as performing the pre-screening tests.
In her free time Sylvia enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and reading.
Ellie
Ellie has been with us since 2013. Her bright cheerful personality puts everyone at ease, whether she’s greeting you in person or answering the phone. Ellie, along with Sylvia, is responsible for performing the pre-screening tests prior to your appointment with one of our optometrists.
Outside the practice Ellie enjoys collecting antiques and trips away in her motorhome.
